Border States Electric Supply (Fargo, N.D.): Tammy Miller has been appointed president. She has been with Border States since 1991, most recently as executive vice president. Gary Miller has been appointed executive vice president. He began his career with Border States in 1979. Most recently, he served as vice president, Northwest region. Greg Thrall, who joined Border States in 1973, has been appointed senior vice president. Most recently, he served as a vice president with responsibility for operations and inventory management, which he will continue to handle in his new role. In addition, Gary Miller and Greg Thrall were appointed to the board of directors, joining Tammy Miller; Brad Thrall, CEO; and Greg Hoffelt, senior vice president.

Davis Wholesale Electric (North Hollywood, Calif.) Steve Lockie has been promoted to vice president of purchasing and operations. As a former principal of Industrial Wholesale Electric Co, Lockie brings more than 33 years of wholesaling experience.

Leviton Manufacturing (Little Neck, N.Y.): Brian Ensign has been appointed director of national accounts for the voice and data division. Ensign is one of 83 people to achieve the multiple certifications as a BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) RCDD (registered communications distribution designer), LAN (local area network) and OSP (outside plant specialist).

W.A.C. Lighting (Garden City, N.Y.): Sean Tham has been promoted to vice president of marketing. He has been with W.A.C. Lighting for more than a decade.

Hughes Supply Inc. (Orlando, Fla.): Neal J. Keating has been appointed chief operating officer. Keating's prior experience includes 24 years at Rockwell International.

Sola/Hevi-Duty (Rosemont, Ill.): George Mulligan has been named president of Sola/Hevi-Duty, a brand of the EGS Electrical Group division specializing in identifying and providing industrial power quality solutions. Previously, Mulligan was vice president of international sales and sales operations for the ECM Division of EGS Electrical Group. Additionally, Mike Johnson has been appointed director of marketing. Johnson, who joined Sola/Hevi-Duty in 1992, was most recently product manager for power supplies.

Fairmont Supply Co. (Canonsburg, Pa.): Jeffrey Robinson has been promoted to sales manager, Western operations, and will continue to be located in Craig, Colo.

National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED, St. Louis): George Adams Jr., president and chief executive officer of Electric Supply of Tampa Inc., Tampa, Fla., has been named incoming vice president-elect for NAED's South Central Region. The South Central Region is currently led by Sam McCamy III, president of Roden Electrical Supply, Knoxville, Tenn. In May, Mike Ales, vice president of purchasing and operations for Werner Electric Supply, Neenah, Wis., will become South Central Region vice president for the 2005-2006 year.

OBITUARIES

D.J. “Don” Ambrose, a former executive with WESCO Distribution, Pittsburgh, died Dec. 20, 2004, in Philadelphia from complications due to heart disease. He was 71 years old.

Ambrose served the electrical industry for 30 years before retiring as WESCO's vice president of marketing in 1994. The National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) recognized him with an honorary life membership after his retirement in 1995.

Terry Nykiel, an industry veteran, died suddenly Feb. 18 at his home in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Feb. 18. He was 56 years old.

Nykiel's electrical industry career included stints with GTE Sylvania, Valmont Electric, SLi Lighting and Radionic Industries.

Tiffany Sutton, a sales engineer for MGM Transformer Co., Commerce, Calif., died Feb. 2 after a brief illness. Born in 1946, Sutton had been employed by MGM Transformer for 23 years and had a large following of loyal customers.
