At Automatic Switch Co., Florham Park, N.J., Jack Petro has been promoted to vice president and general manager of ASCO Services, Inc. Don Blackman has been promoted to vice president for marketing, switch products. Dan Scheffer has been promoted to vice president of engineering, switch products.

Robert Jamieson has been appointed vice president and regional sales manager in Canada for BICC Cables Corp., West Nyack, N.Y.

After 10 years as vice president of national accounts with W.W. Grainger, Lincolnshire, Ill., Doug Witt has taken an appointment as vice president of sales and marketing with Newark Electronics, Chicago, Ill., an electronic components catalog distributor.

At Baldor Electric Co., Fort Smith, Ark., R.L. Qualls has stepped down as chief executive officer, but remains company vice chairman and an executive committee member. The company has not named a successor. Robert D. Butler was promoted to executive vice president after serving as vice president of operations. Randy L. Colip was promoted to vice president of sales. He was formerly national sales manager. Ronald E. Tucker was promoted to controller. He was formerly audit services director.

At Phelps Dodge Corp., New York, N.Y., J. Steven Whisler has been appointed president and chief operating officer and will continue as president of the mining operationing unit. He replaces Douglas Yearley as president, who will remain chairman and chief executive officer. Manuel J. Iraola, president of the non-mining operating unit, was elected to the board of directors.

At Industrial Electric Mfg., Inc., Fremont, Calif., Josh Rabin was named marketing associate. He was formerly with ASD, San Francisco, Calif. Lynn Shaw, formerly with Siemens, was named sales engineer. Mark Szymczak, formerly with Allen-Bradley, was named sales engineer. Bill Goll, formerly with Graybar Electric, was named sales engineer. Brent Simor was promoted from sales engineer to manager of quotations and special product sales.

John Pickrell was named director of marketing and technical support at Integral Corp., Dallas, Texas. c Duane Reed has been named northeast regional manager for the POWR-GARD products division of Littelfuse, Inc., Des Plaines, Ill.

At Border States Electric Supply, Fargo, N.D., David Palen, formerly general manager of the Minneapolis branch office, was named utility sales manager for the company's northern region. Steve Kuntz is the new Minneapolis branch manger. Brad Thrall is now senior vice president of sales and marketing. Greg Hoffelt will serve as the senior vice president of operations and information systems.

At Dominion Electric Supply, Co., Inc., Arlington, Va., Thomas F. Culotta was promoted to project sales manager responsible for the outside sales staff, and switchgear and commercial-lighting quotations departments. Michael Stombock was promoted to branch sales manager, including inside and counter sales for the six company locations. Catherine N. Schlawin received the lighting specialist designation from the American Lighting Association. Ron Allison has been named switchgear quotations manager.

Bernard Kwok has been named president of Magnetek Asia Ltd., a new subsidiary of Magnetek, Inc., Nashville, Tenn. He formerly served as managing director and general manager for Nortel, (Asia) Ltd., Hong Kong.

Russell L. DeVeau was named specification and design manager for fiber optic lighting products at Starfire Lighting, Inc., Jersey City, N.J.

Jim Shearer has been named general manager at Shepherd Electric Supply, Baltimore, Md.

Alex Beltran was named regional sales manager for Motortronics, Clearwater, Fla. He will be based in Concord, Calif.

Rick Floyd has been named manager of the Marshall, Texas, branch of Dealers Electrical Supply, Waco, Texas.

Ruth K. Calka has been elected vice president for quality and information systems at Eagle Electric Supply Co., Inc., Norwood, Mass.

Christopher B. McIntyre has been named southern regional sales manager at the Supply Division, a unit of Genlyte Co., Union, N.J. David F. McAnally has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of WESCO Distribution, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., the same positions he held at Rykoff-Sexton, Inc., a national food distribution company. McAnally will also serve as chief financial officer.

At Klein Tools Inc., Chicago, Alan Sipe has been promoted to senior vice president, sales and marketing. He was vice president of sales and marketing. Jerry Joseph has been promoted to vice president, North American sales. He was director of North American sales.

Daniel J. McLaughlin has been named senior vice president for sales and marketing for the domestic supply divisions and subsidiaries at Benfield Electric Supply Co., Inc., White Plains, N.Y. His previous responsibilities involved formation of Benfield Data Comm, where he served as president.

At Cummins Utility Supply, Fort Worth, Texas, David May was named senior vice president, manufacturer relations and Midwest region. Steve Kaylor was named vice president, south region and public power strategic alliances. Mike Dabner was named vice president, southwestern region. Jack May was named vice president, IOU strategic alliances. Gayland Avance was named vice president, finance. Vickie Biddy was named vice president, human resources. Mackey Beach was named director of procurement and strategic alliance implementation.

Joe Kann, formerly director of marketing for the Industrial Control Group of Rockwell Automation, Milwaukee, Wis., has been named to the new position of vice president, GlobalDevelopment, with responsibilities including oversight for an expansion strategy that will include national and international acquisitions.

At Tivoli Industries Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., Charles Kimmel has been named president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, making him responsible for overall operations and fiscal management. He formerly served as director of worldwide operations for NetManage, Inc., a software company. Marie Paris moved from operations manager to marketing manager.

At Philips Lighting Co., Somerset, N.J., James Gonedes has been appointed vice president of strategic marketing. Ed Crawford has been named vice president and general manager, Philips Lighting Commercial Operations Canada. Chris Cane, senior vice president, Canada, Mexico and Export, will retire after more than 38 years in the industry. During that time, Cane introduced Philips electronic ballasts into the distributor channel, implemented a company-wide transaction-cost-reduction program and has been an instructor in the the University of Electrical Distribution. Cane's successor has not been named.

Edward J. Kramer was named marketing director for the MetroLux Lighting Division, Quality Lighting, Franklin Park, Ill.

Robert Catone has been named vice president and general manager of Guth Lighting, a subsidiary of the JJI Lighting Group, Greenwich, Conn.
