Kirby Risk Alive and Well in Centralia, Ill.
In the June 2006 article “New Beginnings” (page 64), which detailed the launch of AKME Express Electrical Supply in Centralia, Ill., Electrical Wholesaling mistakenly reported Kirby Risk Electrical Supply had moved its Centralia, Ill., branch to Mount Vernon, Ill. Kirby Risk maintains a full-service supply location in Centralia as it has for 11 years. The Centralia location includes a counter area, inside sales, a warehouse and outside sales.
Kirby Risk did move its centralized inside sales support team and centralized warehouse operation from Centralia to Mount Vernon, and the Centralia branch did relocate to a smaller facility within one block of its original location, but it never vacated the community. Now located at 501 North Poplar St., the Centralia location has five full-time employees whose combined experience in the industry totals 70 years.
“As in the past, Kirby Risk will continue to support the local market needs of our valued customers with a local investment and local presence,” wrote Douglas J. Gutridge, Kirby Risk's vice president human resources, in a letter to Electrical Wholesaling. The editors of Electrical Wholesaling apologize for the error and any additional confusion it may have caused.
Headquartered in Lafayette, Ind., Kirby Risk Electrical Supply has a total of 36 services centers in three states: Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.
