The Venture Lighting Institute (VLI), Streetsboro, Ohio, is trying something new during this first class of 2009. Because the agenda takes you on site tours, requires site surveys and has you designing parking lots, there will be no sitting down.
The two-day class will be held Jan. 15 and 16 and will cover key topics such as night vision, color, trends in lighting for night-time environments, energy codes and design applications. The first day's class is held during the evening for a site tour and survey, which is used the second day for a lighting design exercise. The VLI's Nighttime Design and Philosophies class uses high-impact training, having attendees participate in activities for real data gathering and then apply the knowledge gained during the class.
“This class is very important to Venture Lighting because metal halide currently constitutes 70 percent of our outdoor lighting business,” said Amanda Foust, director of the VLI. “We structure our classes to allow students to learn and then apply the concepts in the class, providing them an example which they can utilize in their practice.”
Class times and registration are available online at www.TheVLI.com. The Nighttime Design and Philosophies class is offered only twice a year.
