“Let's turn up the house lights,” Doug Miller announces as he breezes around the new 9,000-square-foot lighting showroom tugging pull chains and adjusting dimmers. As the manager of the Bright Light Design Center now open in King of Prussia, Pa., Miller has added some real drama to the business of retail lighting.
The third lighting showroom Miller has opened or redesigned for parent company Colonial Electric Supply, King of Prussia, Pa., Bright Light's other showrooms are located in Warminster, Pa.; and Wilmington, Del.
The main showroom boasts hundreds of chandeliers gracefully suspended from high ceilings. From hand-painted Italian glass to country wrought iron or traditional brass chandeliers, customers are sure to find a look they like.
Off the main showroom, customized vignettes help shoppers envision selections in appropriate settings. For a more formal décor, the Crystal Room features dazzling crystal chandeliers, table lamps and sconces. Designer brands like James Moder Crystal, American Brass & Crystal and Waterford share space with Nulco Lighting. Nulco's signature blue snowflake crystals produce a one-of-a-kind look.
Need to see how a particular recessed lighting fixture will make your dining table shine? Visit the Light Lab where dozens of downlights are installed on separate dimmers so that customers can see the difference between halogen and incandescent lamps, marvel at the flexibility of a directional light, or envision how a gold-toned insert will warm a room.
Bright Light's Kitchen & Bath vignettes vividly demonstrate how the combination of task and accent lighting can stylishly pull all the elements of these hard-working rooms together.
In the Lounge, shoppers can appreciate pop art and Italian glass floor lamps while relaxing in the contemporary furniture settee. By the way, all the accessories and furniture are for sale as well.
“Our lighting designers help customers develop plans to light even the trickiest spaces,” says Miller of his staff of certified lighting and interior designers.
