Colonial Electric Supply Acquires Telecom Specialist
An article in Pennsylvania's Times Herald says Colonial Electric Supply, King of Prussia, Pa., has acquired TelTek Sales Inc., Philadelphia, to bolster its offering of telecom products and services. According to the article, TelTek Sales, Inc. will begin operating out of Colonial Electric's King of Prussia location under the company's Outside Plant Division beginning this month. Howard Sukonick, TelTek president, will join Colonial Electric Supply as V.P. of its Outside Plant Division. The article said he has more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications business.
Distributor Branch Openings
Graybar Electric Co., St. Louis, opened a new branch in Lafayette, Ind., on Nov. 1. The 10,000-square-foot facility, located at 500 Hamman St., will serve 11 counties in west-central Indiana. Branch Manager Wendi Ayers will lead the staff of seven.
Maltby Electric Supply Co. Inc., San Francisco, completed an expansion of its San Rafael, Calif., branch in October. The expansion added about 30 percent to the location's usable space, giving Maltby the capability to increase stock levels on many products and bring greater support to the marketplace. The expansion includes all new offices and a new counter/showroom. To show off the new facilities, the company held a Grand Opening open house for customers and vendors Oct. 26.
The Hite Co., Altoona, Pa., announced plans to open its 22nd store location in York, Pa., during the first quarter of 2012.The 16,000-sq.-ft. facility will be serviced daily by Hite's 40,000-sq.-ft. distribution warehouse in Harrisburg, Pa. The company currently has 21 locations.
In a press release announcing the new location, T. Scott Lawhead, Hite's president/CEO said, “The Hite Co. has planned for growth around our Harrisburg distribution center, and this location will now offer industry, institutions, commercial businesses, builders and contractors another local source for their electrical and lighting supplies.”
