Every May, K/E Electric Supply, Mt. Clemens, Mich., holds a promotion it calls “First Order of the Day.” The customer placing the first qualifying order of the day at any one of the company's four locations wins a prize. This year, the folks at K/E chose the theme of “Made in Michigan” to celebrate all things Michigan.
“Times have been tough and especially here in Michigan,” says K/E Electric's Cheryl Stomps. “We have come through and are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.” The company's promotion celebrated Michigan electrical contractors and offered them a basket overflowing with Michigan-made name-brand products such as Kelloggs, Sanders, Faygo and Better Made. To add to the excitement, each basket winner had their name put into a drawing for two tickets to a sold-out concert by Michigan native Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, who happened to be playing in the Detroit area in May.
“It was a lot of fun,” says Stomps. “Customers were hanging out in the parking lot quite early in anticipation of this event and sometimes it got a little competitive. No one got hurt and one lucky winner walked away with two coveted concert tickets.”
Some of the K/E Electric crew produced their own Made in Michigan video to show the company's branches and highlight the promotion, available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MV_VaHP1BM.
