Cooper Industries, Houston, opened the doors of its new technology and training facility for a customer grand opening celebration in January. More than 250 people turned out for this half-day event, which featured comprehensive tours of the new facility and an opportunity to discuss training needs with the company's executives and representatives of each Cooper division. Attendees included a wide variety of end-users, distributors and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) professionals from the electrical, oil and gas and petrochemical market segments.

The Cooper Technology Center is a first-of-its kind, 35,000-square-foot facility featuring an auditorium, conference room, multiple training rooms and a full-scale mock refinery, wastewater treatment facility and electrical distribution grid, which includes over 250 of Cooper's industrial offerings, installed as they would appear in an operational setting.

The new industrial-focused training facility was designed for industry-specific education and hands-on demonstrations of industrial products and solutions offered by the company. It is strategically located in Houston because the city is home to some of the world's largest consulting engineering firms and is also the heart of the U.S. oil and petrochemical industry.

“During this time when budgets are stretched, this facility offers a unique venue for us to provide our customers with the education and training that is vital to their businesses,” said Cooper CEO Kirk Hachigian. “It also allows us to partner with distributors, EPC professionals and end-users alike to discuss the various opportunities that exist with emerging technologies and products relating to global infrastructure, energy demands and energy efficiency, and facility safety.”

Cooper Industries has eight divisions offering a variety of electrical products and tools. The divisions include: Cooper B-Line, Cooper Bussmann, Cooper Crouse-Hinds, Cooper Lighting, Cooper Power Systems, Cooper Safety, Cooper Wiring Devices and Cooper Tools.
