Mersen has signed on with ETIM North America, Salt Lake City, UT, the product classification standards organization. Mary Shaw, ETIM North America’s executive director, said in the press release that Mersen bring the organization a long-needed product descriptor structure to the electrical industry and specifically bring their expertise to enhance product description quality for fuses, switches and surge protection devices.
As a direct member, Mersen will not only have access to the ETIM-developed tools, but will also participate in as many ETIM NA Product Expert (PE) Groups as their expertise supports. Currently there are three PE groups, encompassing power distribution/automation & drives, wiring devices/lighting controls and wire/cable/conduit products. Fuses and relays are included in the power distribution/automation & drives group and are in queue to be reviewed next.
Kian Sanjari, Mersen’s director of Global MarCom, said the company is actively involved with other ETIM organizations in Europe, and that it’s a natural fit to also be involved in North America.
