Liberty Wire & Cable, a master-distributor of wire and cable products, has introduced a special package of inventory services that allow customers to turn their warehouses into Liberty facilities custom-stocked for each customer's specific needs. The company announced the new offering at InfoComm International 2009, the annual convention of the International Communications Industries Association.

Through the on-site consigned inventory management program, Liberty, owned by Wesco Distribution Inc., offers select customers the ability to put Liberty products in their warehouses and be charged only when they withdraw products. The services are set up so that the customer's warehouse becomes, in effect, a Liberty warehouse stocked with Liberty products and computer terminals. Liberty experts train each customer's warehouse staff so they know how to operate in the Liberty framework.

To qualify, organizations must meet a variety of criteria, including minimum size and minimum warehouse size, although the services are scalable for both large and small facilities. Customers carry Liberty stock on site, tailored from among Liberty's more than 7,000 wire and cable products to the specific buying behavior of each host organization.

“The Inventory Services ensure that businesses have their specific day-to-day installation items in stock, and no longer have to allocate working capital to the inventory, since they're only billed when the stock is extracted,” said Kirk Horlbeck, Liberty's senior vice president of marketing.
