Generac’s mobile showcase hits the road again after 1 million miles of training

April 11, 2014
The Power Trip Experience shows specifying engineers, electrical contractors, facility managers, and others how Generac Industrial Power products and solutions can support a variety of applications. In 2013, the Power Trip Experience visited 175 cities and hosted over 2000 engineers and other power generation specialists.

After more than a decade of service and almost a million miles travelled across North America showcasing its industrial power solutions, Generac Industrial Power, Waukesha, Wis.,  briefly brought its demonstration vehicle home late last year to give the 53-foot mobile showcase several updates and new features in support of Generac’s newly expanded product line.

On March 31, the vehicle once again hit the road as a central part of the Generac “Power Trip Experience.” Hosted by Generac Industrial Power distributors in their local markets, the Power Trip Experience shows specifying engineers, electrical contractors, facility managers, and others how Generac Industrial Power products and solutions can support a variety of applications.

The Generac Power Trip Experience vehicle features two fully functioning diesel generators that showcase Generac Modular Power System (MPS) paralleling technologies (left), patented onboard control systems, and advanced GenLink® monitoring software. As part of the remodel, the Power Trip Experience now features demonstrations of the Generac I-Panel™ off-board controller, offered with the company’s newest line of generators from from 800 kW to 2 MW. Visitors can enjoy all of these demonstrations while comfortably seated in the vehicle’s renovated 16-seat theater.
“In 2013, the Power Trip Experience visited 175 cities and hosted over 2000 engineers and other power generation specialists,” said Rich Thompson, director of marketing for Generac commercial and industrial products. “Engineers have told us that having been able to see how our products work gave them even more confidence in their choice to specify Generac. We look forward to demonstrating even more of our capabilities this year.” Among its many features, the Power Trip Experience has transfer switch and  generator controller demos for visitors (photo above).

The Power Trip Experience also supports distributor-hosted classroom training for engineers. By participating in the Generac Professional Development Seminar Series (PDSS), which is accredited by the Milwaukee School of Engineering, engineers can earn continuing education units (CEUs) or professional development hours (PDHs).
