Metro Wire & Cable Corp. of Detroit opened its third office and distribution center in Iowa City in November. The 15,000-square-foot facility is staffed by experienced sales personnel and backed by an inventory of electrical wire and cable products. It will serve Metro customers in the Midwest and western areas of the country.
Metro Wire selected Iowa City primarily because of its alliance with ITC Midwest, which manages electrical transmission lines in Iowa and the surrounding states, said Donald Ezop, president. “This is a fantastic business opportunity for us and we're looking forward to becoming an integral part of the Iowa City business community.” Metro Wire supplied the area with nine semi-trailer loads of cable earlier this year for substation and transmission line repair after the spring flooding that devastated the region.
