25% growth in shipments of LEDs for lighting applications
84% growth expected in 2014 -- 9.7% of all lighting products
Digitimes, the technical journal covering the semiconductor industry, reports that the proportion of LED chips used in LED lighting will increase from 20% in 2012 to about 25% in 2013. The Digitimes post also provided some insight into the insane growth the LED lighting market enjoyed this past year:
"Global LED light bulb shipments will reach 1.254 billion units in 2014, hiking 84% on year and accounting for 9.7% of all lighting products."
