Lighting manufacturer NICOR, Albuquerque, N.M., opened the doors on its new Lighting Technology Center in Albuquerque with a Grand Opening Celebration on Oct. 12. Several hundred industry and business leaders gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry.
The training center’s 20,000 sq ft expansion includes a dedicated training space of 2,500 sq ft, plus upgraded engineering, testing and photometry labs, a larger ManTech product customization area, as well as additional office space.
NICOR’s Lighting Technology Center features several hands-on displays showcasing the differences between various light sources, the color of light and the benefits of LED technology. It also offers a live product catalog where customers can see product families on display in real world applications, a distributor counter vignette and two state-of-the-art training rooms.
“Our goal was to provide an opportunity for distributors and their customers as well as engineers, architects and specifiers to not only come tour the NICOR facility, but to receive real world training on the benefits of LED technology as well as gain a good understanding of lighting fundamentals,” remarked Rocklan Lawrence, owner NICOR, Inc.
The NICOR team plans to utilize this facility to support local industry organizations as well as on a national level by flying customers in for specialized training sessions.
