Graybar Takes Stand on Point of Sale Data

April 21, 2017
NEMRA said it encourages all distributors to provide their suppliers with point of sale and point of transfer information to ensure accuracy and timeliness, especially distributors with regional distribution centers or central distribution centers.

Graybar, St. Louis, announced its support for NEMRA’s Point-of-Sale/Point-of-Transfer (POS/POT) standardization initiative in a statement released today by the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA), Portsmouth, NH.

“We know that manufacturer representatives are an important element of the supply chain who can act as advocates for our suppliers,” Jeff Netherton, Graybar’s vice president of Product Management, said in the release. “Graybar offers up to 28 data fields to our suppliers related to POS. We can work with suppliers to identify their needs and jointly determine the appropriate fields to transmit to them through FTP in compliance with the NEMRA recommended standard.”

Ken Hooper, president of NEMRA, said he appreciated Graybar’s support and leadership position. “Graybar is a respected leader in our industry, and I know that most if not all of our members have some interaction with a Graybar location. Their support is important to our members, and I am confident that it will help our members feel more confident that they are being accurately compensated for their efforts on behalf of their manufacturers who avail themselves of information from Graybar.”

Hooper went on to say that NEMRA encourages all distributors to provide their suppliers with point of sale and point of transfer information to ensure accuracy and timeliness, especially distributors with regional distribution centers or central distribution centers.
