Oct. 4, 2013
Ken Jacobs, owner and CEO of KJ Electric, Syracuse, N.Y., has purchased the electric motor and repair divisions of Electro-Mech Systems Group, originally located in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Ken Jacobs, owner and CEO of KJ Electric, Syracuse, N.Y., has purchased the electric motor and repair divisions of Electro-Mech Systems Group, originally located in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

KJ Electric increased its repair capabilities in its Buffalo (Tonawanda) location by acquiring Electro-Mech Systems Group’s equipment and inventory, and the company will now have a full-service repair shop in Tonawanda. It will be acquiring repair equipment such as a crane, lathes and balancing stands, as well as the inventory that was previously stocked at Electric-Mech Systems Group.

The employees that were working at Electro-Mech as repair workers will now be employed at KJ Electric full-time. The previous owner, Greg Barker, will be managing the repair shop during the transition period and after. In the press release announcing the acquisition, Jacobs said, “This is an exciting merger for KJ Electric. It allows us to better service our customers in the Buffalo Area. We have gained all of the electric motor repair equipment and inventory. But more importantly we have also gained employees who have years of knowledge in the industry, which is the most important tool you can have.”
