A new distributor serving the electric and utility markets has opened in the Atlanta metro. Hicks Electric & Utility Supply Co. (HESCO) serves electrical and utility contractors, as well as industrial and commercial accounts in Georgia and throughout the Southeast. HESCO's facility features a 60,000-square-foot warehouse and a retail counter. “We returned to this location because it's convenient for our customers and allows us to service the entire metro area effectively,” said David Hicks Jr., president.

The opening of HESCO marks the return of the David Hicks family, founders of DH Supply Co., which the family sold to Rexel in 2006. Several other distributors have started new distribution businesses after selling to Rexel, including Steve and Mike Blazer of Blazer Electric Supply, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Scott Schieffer of Hill Country Electric Supply, Austin, Texas; and Al and Gary Russello of Granite Electrical Supply Inc., Sacramento, Calif.

Dakota Supply Group (DSG), Fargo, N.D., has acquired Fargo Water Equipment, a distributor of underground pipes, valves and fittings also located in Fargo. This acquisition will strengthen DSG's product offering for the waterworks industry throughout the Midwest. Founded in 1962, Fargo Water Equipment serves most of North Dakota and parts of Minnesota and Montana. The company's 17 employees will become part of DSG's employee ownership group.
