Lithonia buys Peerless Lighting

Lithonia Lighting, Conyers, Ga., took a position in the direct/indirect suspended fixture market last month by acquiring assets of Peerless Lighting Corp., Berkeley, Calif. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Peerless Lighting makes commercial direct/indirect suspended lighting fixtures for the architectural indoor market. Peerless reported revenues of $30 million for 1998.

Douglas Herst, president and chief executive officer and former owner of Peerless, will become part of Lithonia Lighting's management team as vice president-Peerless Products.
