You cannot be too prepared when performing a lighting system audit. These tools will make you look like you know what you're doing, and will help eliminate the need for additional site visits:

  1. Digital camera — To note existing mounting hardware, areas where fixtures can be eliminated, etc.

  2. Manual counter — There are few things more frustrating than losing count in the middle of a long row of fixtures.

  3. Light meter — Determines how much illumination an area is getting. This information is critical when determining the proper energy-saving fixture.

  4. Laser measuring tool — Helps determine area square footage and mounting heights.
