2017 East North Central Region Forecast

This region is enjoying a diverse mix of projects. The South Bend Tribune reported on a proposal for a $1 billion gas-fired power plant in Niles, Ind. A $900 million plan for a 1,000MW gas-fired plant by EmberClear Corp. in Harrison County, Ohio, also made headlines, and Orion Renewables wants to build a $350 million wind farm in Warren County, Ind., according to Dodge. Outside of the utility segment, a $500 million renovation of a General Motors body shop in Flint, Mich.; a new $485.9 million area for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks; and the $450 million Northwestern Mutual Tower in Milwaukee are underway. Chicago still has the largest share of the construction with the region and according to a report on www.curbed.com 44 large construction projects are underway, including the $779.6 million Wanda Vista condo tower; the $500 million Bennett Park tower; and the $233 million CNA Financial headquarters building. The city is also building apartments and condos like crazy.
