Dubbed the most recognizable city landmark that most Americans have never heard of, Los Angeles' 2nd Street Tunnel has been featured in a variety of music videos and movies, making it a well-known landmark. It recently underwent a major lighting upgrade with Signify's Color Kinetics and Lumec solutions, blending the city's historical lighting with dramatic color on the west end of the tunnel.
Signify teamed up with Forman & Associates to create the light display. It is designed to boost local engagement, such as celebrate sporting team victories or holidays. Additionally, Signify helped create lighting for the city's day-to-day traffic flow and operations with its Lumec Tunnelview and Renaissance LED pendant to illuminate the open, Figueroa side of the tunnel. Together, the fixtures give the tunnel a vintage LA aesthetic, while improving the safety and coverage of the tunnel.
