United Electric Supply Celebrates 50 Years

Dec. 1, 2015
The United Electric celebration spanned the decades as guests were transported back in time to the 1960s and 1970s where they met with industry leading vendors.

Rain did not dampen the spirits of the nearly 1000 customers, vendors, and employee-owners of United Electric Supply who gathered at the company’s New Castle, Del., headquarters on Oct. 1 to celebrate United Electric’s 50 years of service excellence in electrical distribution and 20 years as an employee-owned company.

The United Electric celebration spanned the decades as guests were transported back in time to the 1960s and 1970s where they met with industry leading vendors. They traveled through time, via a portal featuring a pictorial history of the company, and through the 1980s and 1990s for a showcase of the latest technology, products, and services utilized in the electrical industry. The journey ended as guests emerged from the 2000’s to enter United Electric’s celebration of the decades.

George Vorwick, president and CEO, greeted guests with the story of United Electric Supply’s humble beginnings in a potato chip factory to its evolution into the customer-focused, employee-owned company it is today. He acknowledged the leadership of United Electric’s founder Nick Gianoulis and former CEO and chairman Tom Cloud.

The formal ceremonies culminated in a customer appreciation prize drawing, in which customers had the opportunity to win iPads, GoPro cameras, and a Caribbean Cruise. United Electric’s grand-prize winner, Steve Dignan of Nickle Electrical, drove away in a new 2015 Ford F-150 truck.
